From a refreshing, bright and juicy burst of the two citrus notes, Aqua Vitae is another wonderful composition from Maison Francis Kurkdjian! Quick as a flash the fresh citrus is joined by the radiant Jasmine aroma of Hedione. Now citrus, green and slightly floral, Tonka Bean joins this lovely composition warm and sunny notes of fresh cut hay. Shortly Vanilla and woody, balmy Guaiac Wood finish and round out the entire composition. The vanilla note is ever so slight in this composition. Aqua Vitae is a fresh yet not sharp, citrusy, balmy fragrance.

To me, Aqua Vitae is another lovely comfort fragrance from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Aqua Vitae reminds me of a tailored, white cotton blouse with french cuffs and a pleat at the back which I own. A beginning of sweet vanilla from Siam Benzoin. Add Bulgarian Rose to add a very nice rose floral and sweeten just a bit further by the addition of Iranian Rose Honey for an edible rose. Five minutes along the development of this parfum, Incense absolute adds a mild smoky flavor. 

Nearly a cordial note of alcohol, but another sniff of the wrist and I note a definite whiff of the incense, yet still sweet, edible rose with the vanilla and rose honey. Delicious!

AMYRIS FEMME

Notes: Orange from California, Jamaican Amyris, Florentine Iris, Haitian Vetyver, Musky Amber

Amyris is a flowing shrub in the Caribbean whose trunk secretes a balsam called elemi. Elemi is called "A flame that never dies". 

A burst of California Orange leads into a whisper of floral which is quickly immersed in dry greens, fresh greens and balsam, finally resting on a base of soft musky amber. This Eau de Parfum is not transparent nor opaque. It is more like a lovely veil. Wear it everywhere, everyday, anytime.

Orange flower: fresh and sweetish floral note.
Ylang-Ylang: Delightful sweet, heavenly odor. Rich, floral, sweet and narcotic, aphrodisiac & erotic
Virginia Cedarwood: Clean balsamic, woody odor with a pale undertone of sandalwood.

While the note list is not large, I believe that, the notes used in this fragrance are extra grade in their quality and the amounts of each used was the whole key to this. The nose of Francis Kurkdjian is something to be admired while testing and wearing the fragrances that he creates.

APOM (A Part of Me) is interesting, intriguing and powdery. It is soapy and floral, sweet and woody.

The simple yet lovely fragrance is first all orange blossom flower soon joined by the ylang-ylang, making it headier and slightly soapy. The entire composition is grounded by the Virginia Cedarwood but, does not lose the powdery floral. It is as if all three of these notes are now one new note. Yet another sniff of my skin and I can still detect each one. This is lovely, powdery, slightly floral sweet and lightly woody.

Aqua Universalis

Notes: Bergamote, Lemon from Sicily, Lily of the Valley, Sweet Mock Orange, Light and Musky Blonde Wood

Bergamote and Sicilian Lemon burst forth mouth watering and citrus. Quickly to join in the composition is the Lily of the Valley which is toned by the citrus notes and tamed by the Sweet Mock Orange note in this fragrance. Heavenly as it is there is still one more note to add to this lovely fresh floral composition is the emergence of Light and Musky Blonde Wood. In a flash it is complete.

This is a clean fragrance with all the sharpness of other clean scents rounded out and smoothed. Very well done and not at all like others claiming fresh, clean, or clean linen etc., all pale in comparison to the mastery of Francis Kurkdjian's Aqua Universalis. This is a fresh, floral and woody fragrance that is easy on the senses. It is clean and classy but never over powering. As the company describes it on their site:
    "A fragrance that is quite simply luminous, to be used by everyone, everywhere and at all times. An exquisite sense of freshness in an all purpose Eau de Toilette".
